We posted on the r/whatisthisthing sub-Reddit and here is what people thought about this item. An oil proof surface to cover your couch or bed? 31x74 seems to be standard dimensions for cot-size sheets. It could also be a mattress protector beneath a top sheet.
Marketing tablecloth at a press event or similar. Perhaps a promotional space blanket. Playboy Plus is in Burbank, and models in various stages of undress may find this plastic covering more hygienic than a rando cold chair, stool, etc. A more advanced version of the paper on a Doctor's exam table? They wouldn't wear something that is cold and doesn't breathe. Many are on camera (Playboy Radio, for one) and thus they need to be in various states of undress on camera. This means less time in robes. Edit: But to be clear, I'm suggesting they wear these, I'm suggesting it's a buffer between skin and inanimate objects chairs, stools, etc. I have no idea what it is; just making an assumption based on the limited time I was there (my employer at the time engineered and deployed a bunch of tech there).
"I think it might be used as a backdrop in photoshoots of models". Honestly looks like an emergency blanket with an Italian edition playboy logo printed on it for some weird reason. It does look like the hypothermia blanket out of my first aid kit in the car! The material looks less like reflective fabric or the type used in cheapo emergency blankets, but more like thermal insulation material. I'd guess it could have been used on photo shoots to cover, place under, or protect equipment that generate heat. That sure is a lot of ideas and possibilities!
