It does look like the hypothermia blanket out of my first aid kit in the car! The material looks less like reflective fabric or the type used in cheapo emergency blankets, but more like thermal insulation material. I'd guess it could have been used on photo shoots to cover, place under, or protect equipment that generate heat.
