Shell not only had its own studio artists but also commissioned artists who went on to become famous names in British contemporary art, including Paul Nash, John Piper, Vanessa Bell, Ben Nicholson and Graham Sutherland. A collection of the original posters are on display at the National Motoring Museum, Beaulieu. Which is in the Shell Heritage Art Collection and also a display at Upton House. This is a rare Garnier enamel sign from 1970's. Image was taken from the original 1920/30's advertising poster.
Sign not often seen as very few were produced and has very good enamel finish. Measurement size of just over 10" inches by 7" inches. Very good graphics of mechanic, lady, vintage car and Shell oil cabinet. The detail on this image have been very well done. A rare piece of advertising history in a good display size.
