A quite wonderful, unique Enamel sign advertising Squibbs Ague specific medicine. This was an American medicine, which would have been needed during malaria endemics, especially in lower developed countries such as India. In excellent overall condition with the only wear coming around the perimeter. Would look great framed, but the oil painting would not be visible. Produced by the Kotkar enamel Works bombay. This is the first of this sign of its type I've seen. I have seen 1 other in the Indian language, which is nowhere near as desirable.

A one of a kind sign. Advertising medicine for malaria and fevers, the remedy was produced by American based company E.

Squibb & sons, which later became one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, still trading to this day. I have attached some advertising which I was able to find for further provenance.

The sign itself features an interesting crude pictorial of a woman riding a horse, spearing a snake through the mouth. Displays nice gloss and is in really nice condition. And if that wasn't unusual enough, the back features a beautiful painting of a monk with a variety of animals and 2 other blue coloured males in hats looking on. This was created by a Western traveller during the time when Enamel Signs weren't desirable. Something I have never seen before and a fantastic piece of history to go with a great subject matter.

A fabulous, one of a kind sign with a very interesting history and subject matter. You simply won't see another!
